Petition to Keep Lake Baikal Alive

Lake Baikal, a unique UNESCO world heritage site, is under threat from the Russian Government, after permits have been given to open a toxic pulp and paper mill on its shore. Petition General Director of UNESCO Irina Bokova to step up and defend this unique world heritage!

French nuclear company AREVA will no longer be using Russia as its nuclear garbage can - as of July nuclear waste shipments to Russia will stop! Now please help to keep Russia's Lake Baikal alive - it's waters are threatened by the reopening of a toxic pulp and paper mill. Hidup itu singkat, maka bersenang-senanglah!

Jarang sekali saya membaca buku beberapa bulan ini bahkan buku-buku kuliah pun tidak selesai saya baca. Namun, karena pesakitan saya di rumah hampir 3 hari ini bersama Erlamycetin Chloramphenicol yang mengharuskan saya menjauhi cahaya yang terlalu silau. Saya menghabiskan waktu dengan membaca buku pinjaman teman saya yang sangat baik berjudul “Keliling Dunia 6 Bulan Hanya 1.000 Dollar”. Ini adalah buku yang bisa dibilang lengkap untuk yang tertarik traveling, atau bahkan sudah berencana traveling keliling Eropa. Selain itu, terdapat alasan-alasan mengapa harus pergi keliling dunia dan langkah-langkah yang harus disiapkan.

Menurut saya, buku ini sangat menarik karena berdasarkan kisah nyata dari si penulis. Menceritakan perjalanan seorang wanita muslim bernama Marina yang baru saja lulus kuliah dan menghabiskan waktunya selama 6 bulan keliling Eropa dengan modal hanya 1.000 Dollar. Perjalanan tersebut sebagai perayaan kelulusannya dan uang yang dikumpulkan merupakan hasil dari tabungan dan kerja proyekan. Selama di Eropa, Marina menggunakan “jalur pertemanan” dengan menginap di rumah host yang dia kenal melalui situs para traveller seperti Hostpitality Club dan CouchSurfing. Banyak sekali manfaat dengan mengikuti jejaring sosial tersebut. Para anggota Hospitality Club misalnya bersedia para tamunya datang menginap kapan pun saat berada di negaranya. Dengan begitu dapat menghemat biaya perjalanan, bahkan pengeluaran perjalanan bisa saja zero jika beruntung mendapatkan host yang baik hati. Dari pengalaman Marina, dia mendapatkan pengalaman berharga bertemu dengan berbagai macam orang dan mempelajari banyak kebudayaan serta perbedaannya.

Saya ingin sekali memiliki pengalaman begitu berharga seperti yang dilakukan oleh Marina. Tapi sepertinya saya tidak sanggup mencari biaya sebesar 1.000 dollar, tabungan saja semakin menipis. Walaupun begitu saya tetap menetapkan law of Attraction, kali-kali aja berhasil. Dengan membayangkan jalan-jalan dibawah menara Eiffel, menelusuri kanal-kanal yang indah di Venice, jalan-jalan di kebun anggur Tuscany, menelusuri gunung-gunung Sound of Music di Salzburg, atau menikmati sunset di pantai-pantai Spanyol. Hehe! Maybe i’m tends to be rather dreamy sort of person. Siapa yang tidak ingin menginjakan kaki di benua Eropa? Benua di mana semua orang ingin datang mengunjunginya. Maka saya setuju dengan motto hidup Marina, “hidup itu singkat maka bersenang-senanglah!”

PS: Hopefully this dream will be come true started in Prague ;D

HELLO 2010

Hello 2010! It has been long time since i wrote the last post. Honestly, i am too lazy write this blog because workdload with my task in campus. But now, i'm free as a bird. I has passed my sixth semester at Library and Information Science, and it is time for H.O.L.I.D.A.Y On this weekend, i should go to Pond's Teens Concert at Senayan. Unfortunately, i got conjunctivitis again! Conjunctivitis also called "Madras eye" is an acute inflammation of the conjunctiva, the outermost layer of the eye and the inner surface of the eyelids, most commonly due to an allergic reaction or an infection usually viral, but sometimes bacterial. It's make my feeling is bad for today, my eyes is sick and my stomach is so fucking sick too. The worst of all is i can't see my favorite band performing tonight.
